Ear Care
Ear is a self-cleaning organ and does not require active cleaning

Only needs to be cleaned from outside.

No object or fluid should be inserted or instilled into the ears without Doctor advice.
Ear pain should not be ignored as it can lead to serious problems; pain in the ear can be caused by:

Impacted cerumen (wax) in the ear.

Acute infection in the ear canal.

Acute infection of the ear drum.
-
Fluid in the middle ear .
Make a Doctor appointment for an ear check-up.
Most ear infections can be prevented by taking good care of ears

Prevent dirty water entering the ear.

Protect from direct injury to ear as it can damage the ear drum and encourage infections.

Ensure early diagnosis of ear infections by staying vigilant for problems like ear pain, decreased hearing, wetness in the ear.

Not insert anything into the ear such as pencils, erasers, cleaning tips.

Not use unapproved remedies (e.g. herbal) as these may irritate the ear canal and ear drum and cause infection.
Protect from loud noises and prevent Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)

Be aware and learn more about NIHL.

Wear appropriate hearing protection devices.
DON’Ts

DON’T put anything in the ear. No cotton buds, clips, toothpicks, sticks.

DON’T ignore an ear that has any pus or fluid coming out of it.

DON’T treat any ear conditions with hot or cold oil, herbal or home remedies.

DON’T swim or wash in dirty water.
-
DON’T listen to very loud noises or music for long periods as this can cause hearing loss.
